As part of activities marking the birthday of our CEO, Joseph Effiok Hogan, on June 10, the HoganHost and ZuumHost team visited Motherless Babies Home in Lekki, Lagos, to spend time with the children and support the home with essential items.
For us, the visit was more than a birthday activity. It was a moment of reflection, compassion, and renewed commitment to giving back to society.
During the visit, our team interacted with the children and listened to the stories shared by the management of the home. Many of these stories touched us deeply and reminded us of the importance of care, responsibility, and community support.
Speaking after the visit, Joseph Effiok said the experience strengthened his desire to continue supporting vulnerable children and communities.
“I felt compassion for all the beautiful babies, especially after hearing the stories of how they came here. I came with my team in commemoration of my birthday and as part of our corporate social responsibility, but what I have seen today has created a passion in me for this support not to stop, but to continue,” he said.
He also used the opportunity to encourage responsible parenting, urging people to take responsibility for pregnancy and childcare instead of abandoning children.
“No matter what happens, children should not be abandoned. We must learn to take responsibility. A child should not be left for another person to train simply because the parents are not prepared,” he added.
A social worker at the home, Mrs. Tosin Lawal, also spoke on the need for parents and guardians to act responsibly. She explained that some children in orphanages are victims of abandonment, while others are rescued from unsafe situations, including child trafficking.
She advised that anyone who is unable to care for a child should seek help from trusted family members or responsible people, rather than leaving the child in unsafe places.
The visit was led by our CEO, Joseph Effiok, alongside Ruth Boyle Chief Operating Officer of ZuumHost; Esther Bassey Human Resources Officer of hoganhost; Frank Ibingo Technical Head of HoganHost; and John Abia a member of the support team.
