What a 404 Error Actually Means<\/h2>\n
A 404 means the server received the request but could not find anything at that address. This differs from a site being completely down. Your hosting is working fine; the specific page or resource simply is not where the browser expected it to be.<\/div>\n

The Most Common Cause: Permalink Settings Out of Sync<\/h2>\n
If you are running WordPress, this is by far the most frequent reason pages return a 404 right after launch. WordPress stores its URL rewrite rules in a file called .htaccess, and those rules can fall out of sync after a migration, a theme change, or a fresh install.<\/div>\n
